What is a Saloon Car in Indian Railways?
Same as Pantry Car which used for Food in Ordinary Trains
Saloon car for Palace on Wheels for Shaving/Hair Cut and so on........
Good Idea we can ask IR arrange these in VVIP Traios(so that people get ready in trains itself... anyway time spent in travelling in trains is mere waste.. in that time we atleast have our Hair Cut)

Who uses saloons on IR today?
Saloon cars, commonly used for luxury travel by the nobility and high-ranking officials in the past, are now far less common. A few air-conditioned saloon cars are kept for the exclusive use of General Managers of zonal railways and members of the Railway Board. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) have exclusive use of a non-air-conditioned saloon at the divisional level. Other officials such as the ADRM, Senior DEE, Senior DME, Senior DOM, Senior DEN, Senior DPO, and others usually have to share one other non-air-conditioned saloon at the divisional level. (Also read about the presidential saloon.)
Thanks sir for this info.
It should be attached to Palace On Wheels, Deccan Odyssey, Royal Rajasthan on Wheels and The Golden Chariot. As these tours are 7-10 days long and IR can earn through it instead of giving this valuable customers to Private Saloon or hotel saloon.
Does anybody have traveled on this Luxurious trains? can answer that question.
