app, which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance, allows users to
create short videos and then share them online. Voicing concern over
“pornographic and inappropriate content”, the Madras high court had
directed the Centre to ban the app.
According to railway police, the boys and their friends were shooting a
dance video with Mangaluru-Goa intercity train moving in the background.
“The incident took place around 10am on Sunday when a group of
amateur dancers arrived at the railway station after their performance in Udupi. As the train started to move, the boys started to
dance on the platform and were recording the act using TikTok app,” police added.
Railway Protection Force officials termed the act dangerous. “They risked their lives to record a dance video like ‘Kiki
challenge’, a dance challenge which had gone viral recently,” they added.
“We arrested them and registered a case as their performance violated the Railways Act, 1989,” they said.
According to the Act, any individual who creates nuisance, indulges in acts of indecency and risks one’s life is punishable,”they added.
Duo made to pay fine
“The duo was produced before a local magistrate and let off with a warning on Monday. They were asked to pay a fine of Rs
700 and strict instructions were issued asking them to delete the video and not to upload the same,” RPF officials told TOI.
