One of them was pregnant, say Forest officials
Three elephants were knocked down by a train and killed on the spot in Assam’s Hojai district on Monday.
Forest department officials said the tuskers were knocked down near Jugijan by up Kamrup Express and one of them was pregnant. Heavy fog at 1 am when the incident occurred may have caused the accident, they suspected.
Forest Officer Safiqur Rahman with veterinary doctors reached the site and after post mortem examination buried the carcasses near the railway track, they added. - PTI
