* Most of the Shatabdies, Durontos & ACDD trains are making huge losses, does it mean that their fare is subsidised??
* Train incurs loss when its total revenue is lesser than total expenses incurred on the train. And there are many factors which come into play and fare is just one of them. The most important factors are the number of passengers carried and the average contribution of each pax.
* For higher revenue- More no. of coaches, more number of ACII/III/ACC/EC coaches, higher occupancy, faster avg. speed, more distance travelled per

day etc are desirable attibutes
* For lower expenditure- Electric traction with regenerative loco, simple straight track with no/minimal curves, bridges, gradients, tunnels etc, no unnecessary stops etc are desirable attibutes

Shatabdi, Duronto and Rajdhani category trains are not at all subsidised, and so is not ACDD, however any non AC class apart from the first 3 stated are subsidised modes of travel, there is no relation to occupancy as such.
