Pakistan PM Imran Khan has been told by Foreign Office to review China policy or risk facing global condemnation and isolation.

New Delhi: Pakistan is under severe pressure to review its China policy or risk facing global condemnation and isolation along with Beijing. Amid violent clash with India in eastern Ladakh’s Galwan Valley, China has come under fire from all quarters due to its expansionism and misadventure in the Himalayas.

As per the sources, Pakistan’s Foreign Office has told the PMO that unless Pakistan did a quick course correction on its relationship with China, it would incur the wrath of the world's major economic powers that are determined to isolate China after its clash with India and its overall behaviour during the COVID-19 pandemic.

European nations moving to isolate China at the diplomatic level

The first indication of what awaits Pakistan for blindly supporting China is the manner in which the European Union has banned the national airline PIA from landing in Europe despite Islamabad making an all-out effort to convince the EU that only internationally qualified pilots would fly those routes. The EU, however, has refused to hear Pakistan’s plea.

The European nations are moving to isolate China at the diplomatic level for its aggressive stance against India and here Pakistani sources believe that Islamabad could face collateral damage, reported ANI.

Anger against China is already simmering especially in Balochistan and in Gilgit Baltistan due to the way it has been exploiting Pakistan's natural resources under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor or CPEC.

Resentment in Pak against China for the treatment of Uighurs

The Baloch and the people of Gilgit Baltistan have no access to the local jobs, as Chinese companies are bringing cheap Chinese labourers to fulfill the task.

The Chinese are viewed with suspicion as they don’t mingle with the locals and are unaware of local customs and traditions.

A section of the Pakistan elite is of opinion that China which has usurped land in India could do the same in forwarding areas in Pakistan. News reports of the cruel treatment and incarceration of ethnic Uighur Muslims by the Chinese government remain a hot topic in many religious WhatsApp groups.
