those devices are mostly not working in many locos or even aren't fitted in many..
even if they are working in some locos then in dense fog they are of no use as in any case the LP needs to see the signal by himself... In medium fog they might get an idea of position of signals and may see them from a decent distance but in too much fog they don't help much...
