TRICHY: Commuters and railway employees welcomed the move to install point-of-sale (POS) machines in Trichy railway division, including the Trichy railway junction, as it would ease the problem of tendering exact change. Barring some technical difficulties while using the POS, the recent move towards cashless transactions would benefit both passengers and railway employees.
Southern railway has installed 48 POS machines at Passenger Reservation Counters in all major railway junctions and stations across the Trichy railway division. Five POS, including the one which has been in operation at Trichy railway junction brought into functional on Monday.
who had booked their tickets using POS machines said it was so much more convenient than cash transactions.
"Whenever I booked tickets I had to ensure that I had the exact change. This was not easy. If I didn't have the exact change, the staff would be upset. Sometimes, I had to forgo some minor change," said Cot Shaduli, a native of Connor in Kerala who was travelling to Thanjavur via Trichy. tnn
