AHMEDABAD: Ahmedabad-Delhi Rajdhani Express, Ahmedabad-Mumbai Duronto, Shatabdi express and Ahmedabad-Pune Duronto Express will have 10% discount on vacant berth and even reduction in tatkal quota.
The ministry of railways has decided to introduce discount on vacant berths and reduction in the Tatkal quota in Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains on a trial basis from 15th December, 2016 till 31st May, 2017 as a result the four trains from Ahmedabad will be covered under the scheme.
According to railway officials, the vacant berths available after preparation of charts will be sold at a 10%
discount over the last ticket sold prior to first charting. Other supplementary charges like reservation charges, Superfast charge, catering charges, service tax among others as applicable shall be levied in full separately.
The 10% discount shall also be applicable for allotment of vacant berths due to not turning up of passengers in the trains. From September 9 this year Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto tickets are being sold o-n the flexi fare system. These tickets will be available o-n current counters as well as through "E" ticketing.
Passengers can buy these tickets through current counters or through IRCTC also up to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train. Railways have also decided to reduce the earmarked Tatkal quota to 10% of the total classwise accommodation.
