Seems next to impossible to phase them out in 5 years...They don't even think of doing electrification of new lines at places.

It's really good news that IR is planning to electrified all routes however planning and executing doesn't go hand in hand specially for IR. N number of projects been finalised by politicians which never started and waiting for their turn to come. Initially IR was doing like that : MG to BG then doubling and then electrification however now their approach been change a bit like as soon as BG new line or GC has happen go for single electric line and later while doubling electrification can be done.
Electrification approach is fine only when all the projects are completed with minimum delay which is next to impossible due to political issue or bureaucrat's. Couple of zone's are performing excellent in

their project completions however many zone are lagging way behind. Hope to see good ground work so that plans for complete electrification of IR network by 2022 could be achieve.

Rightly said and freights go well with d locos. Instead they should have increased the length of trains, platforms and completed pending projects
