Bengaluru-Chennai train travel set to become faster

South Western Railway (SWR) conducted a speed trial on the 144-km Bengaluru-Jolarpettai section, reaching a maximum speed of 144 kmph. The goal is to increase the sectional speed to 130 kmph, potentially reducing travel times for trains like Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Expresses, and those with LHB coaches. Currently,...

the Bengaluru-Chennai route's Vande Bharat trains take 4 hours 25 minutes and 4 hours 35 minutes, while Shatabdi trains take 5 hours and 5 hours 10 minutes. Increasing the speed on the Bengaluru-Jolarpettai section (currently limited to 110 kmph due to curves and gradients) to 130 kmph is expected to reduce travel times by approximately 30 minutes for these trains. The Jolarpettai-Chennai Central section already allows speeds up to 130 kmph.

South Western Railway (SWR) ne Bengaluru aur Jolarpettai ke beech 144 km section pe ek speed trial kiya, jismein train 144 kmph ki maximum speed tak pahunchi. Target hai is section ki speed 130 kmph karne ka, jisse Vande Bharat aur Shatabdi Express jaisi trains, aur LHB coaches wali trains...

ka travel time kam ho sakta hai. Abhi Bengaluru-Chennai route pe Vande Bharat trains 4 hours 25 minutes aur 4 hours 35 minutes leti hain, aur Shatabdi trains 5 hours aur 5 hours 10 minutes.

So the section is fit for 130 as Max Speed was 143+

Nice..

All LHB trains should be speeded up.

Not yet finalized.... but will come into reality in the nearest future.... I've a feeling that they might swap the TTs of DD and Brindavan so that DD doesn't face more delays.... and all LHB trains using this section will be speeded up as u rightly said.... let's hope for the best...🤞🤞👍👍

1 compliments
_/\_:Hmm okok... 👍👍
Till date, all infra improvements have not given any single additional night train between SBC and MAS. Not even an additional daily daytime ICE. All improvements have given way to fancy trains only. So, I don't expect big positive impact. May be some more fancy trains will be introduced and normal ICE will be nade to wait.

Hello SWR,

Could you please consider changing the 20608 Mysuru to Chennai timing. It would be most beneficial if the trains starts late from Bangalore. For example, start around 6 PM from Bangalore and reach Chennai by 10PM or later.

Problem is that from MYS too much traffic around 430pm or something like that... so I don't think that might work...👍
