To accommodate the large influx of pilgrims expected for the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj starting January 13th, Indian Railways plans to operate 992 special trains. These trains will connect various Gujarat cities (Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Vapi, Bhavnagar, Valsad, Veraval, Sabarmati) directly to Prayagraj's bathing ghats. The remaining trains will be approved next month. The decision was made due to existing trains to Uttar Pradesh being fully booked.
