Two indigenous Vande Bharat-based trains will be manufactured by BEML by the end of 2026. The ETCS-2 system will be deployed to utilize the infrastructure, with commercial operations of Vande Bharat trains planned for 2027. Once Shinkansen trains arrive (around 2030), the Vande Bharat trains and ETCS-2 will be moved to other projects. The ministry is aiming for the best Japanese bullet trains by 2030.
