COIMBATORE: Nilgiris Mountain Rail services have been suspended for three days after a major landslide occurred between Kallar and Hillgrove. The Nilgiris region has been experiencing heavy rainfall since last night as cyclone Vardah is crossing over to Andhra Pradesh.
Railways officials checked the extent of damage later that morning and announced that NMR services would be suspended for a few days.
"The landslide seems to have been severe and there are massive boulders strewn between Hillgrove, around 17km from Mettupalayam, and Kallar," said the Salem division spokesperson.
