Muzaffarpur Railway Station will get 2 new platforms by march 2021. Currently yard remodeling and Route Relay Interlocking work is going on at this railway station. These construction works are expected to be completed by January 2021. As of now the operations of trains are controlled manually in the Muzaffarpur Railway Station. After completion of RRI, trains movement will by controlled by computerised system automatically. The main building of RRI was made since 2015. But due to unavailability of Cables, RRI work is still not completed in the station. RRI was recently installed in the Danapur Railway station.
DRM of Sonpur Division, East Central Railways Mr.Anil Kumar Gupta and with other officers was coming to Muzaffarpur for inspection of construction works. He inspected
the ongoing Yard Remodeling, RRI and new Foot over Bridge works at the station. And instructed the workers of the construction department to complete these works by January. Beside these works, length of platform number 2,5,6 and 7 are going to increase for 20-24 coach train.Currently these platforms can only accommodate 15-18 coach trains. Platform number 5,6 and 7 are terminating platforms which are used for Memu/Demu and Passenger Trains. Platform number 7 is currently not functional, but going to be operational after all these construction works.
The major plan of yard remodeling is to build 2 new platforms. Due to lack of platforms, many trains have to stop at outer for clearance. This seriously impacts on train scheduling, and a main reason for delay of trains. Sonpur Division is also one of the worst performers in the East Central Railway zone for train management. These 2 platforms going to be built beside platform number 3&4.These platforms will be connected with Hajipur and Samastipur line and will capable to accommodate 24 coach train. Currently there are total 7 platforms at Muzaffarpur Junction, after commissioning of 2 more new platforms there will be total 9 platforms in Muzaffarpur Junction. DRM Mr.Anil Kumar Gupta said that these 2 new platforms will be completed till March 2021.
