‘Bhoomipujan” for the Construction of Rolling Stock depot at MIHAN for N-S Corridor was performed today on the premises of the MIHAN depot. The ‘Bhoomipujan’ was performed at the hands of Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director – Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, in the distinguished presence of Sunil Mathur Director (Rolling Stock & Systems), Janak Kumar Garg- CPM(Rolling Stock) and M. Zazou, Project Director,General Consultant and representatives of depot contractor.
This depot will primarily serve the maintenance requirements of Rolling Stock of N-S Corridor (Automative square to Khapri). NMRCL has adopted an innovative approach for cost reduction. reduced to one third. Only trains that require maintenance will be stabled at the depot and all the remaining trains will be stabled at the terminals. The overall track length will be reduced as well as the length of Inspection Bay Line will also be reduced. In addition to rolling stock maintenance; MIHAN Depot will have maintenance facilities for Track, OHE, Power supply, Signalling and Telecom.
The unique feature of this depot is optimisation of available land for depot construction and property development. This depot is smallest in terms of land requirement. Total Area of land for this depot is 76.5acres out of which 21.5 acres will be used in Phase I. 11 rakes will be maintained in this depot in phase I and the depot will have future capacity of expansion for 11 more rakes. The roofs of the Depot building and boundary wall will have Solar Panelling.
State of the art Machinery & Plant are being procured for this depot. The Depot will have an Automatic train Wash Plant of 60 x 7.7m and one Internal Cleaning Plant of 80 x 7.2m.
The proposed work of construction of the depot in MIHAN is scheduled to be completed in 80 weeks. The work is awarded to the Joint Venture of M/S Pratibha, M/s Capacite Structures Ltd and M/s Sudhir Constructions at a contract value of 275crores. The JV has mobilized machinery and manpower to begin the work immediately.
