The inauguration of the Oshiwara railway station has been postponed due to the state government's decision to name the station as Ram Mandir.
Railway minister Suresh Prabhu was expected to inaugurate the 37th station on the Western Railway's (WR) suburban section on November 27. The station will cater to slow line services on WR's main line and Harbour line once the corridor is extended from Andheri to Goregaon.
A senior WR official said, "The state government's approval to name the station as Ram Mandir came very late. Now, we will have make changes
in the public address system, indicators and also in trains. This will take some time which is why the inauguration is postponed." The decision to name the station as Ram Mandir is because it is known for a popular shrine.
