As part of the Centre’s vision on Digital India, the Salem Railway Division has installed four credit/debit card swipe machines or Point of Sales (POS) machines at three junctions in the division here on Wednesday.
Railway officials said that the commercial branch of the Salem Division has installed the machines in the advance ticket booking centres at Coimbatore – two machines, Salem and Erode – one machine each on a trial basis. The four machines from State Bank of India would enable the public to buy train tickets digitally or cashless by swiping their credit/debit cards. They added that the 15 more railway stations in the division have been identified for installation of the machines.
