BHUBANESWAR: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) and State Bank of India (SBI) on Monday carried out and awareness drive at the Bhubaneswar railway station to sensitize passengers to he benefits of cashless transactions.
The SBI officials educated the train passengers and rail users about mobile wallet app State Bank Buddy through which a user can shop online, book movie tickets and hotels and send money instantly to anyone on his mobile phone book.
The app can be downloaded from Google playstore or Apple playstore and installed in a smartphone. The user has to
add money from his/her bank account to the mobile wallet before using it, said an officer.
SBI has opened a stall at the station through which common people can get to know about cashless transactions. It was inaugurated by ECoR general manager Umesh Singh in the presence of B V G Reddy, chief general manager, SBI, Bhubaneswar.
Reddy said there is a need to popularize State Bank Buddy and other such mobile wallet schemes which are now being used by small merchants and even street vendors. More such popularization drives will be taken up at important places in the state, he added.
