In an official circular, Railway Board informed the passengers that all the regular trains which was used to run before lockdown will remain cancelled till further notice. It may be cancelled till October, November or further. The decision is made after seeing the increasing the number of COVID-19 Cases in India. The Covid cases in India reached upto 20 Lakhs. Per day 50-60 thousands new cases are coming. Also, there are still lockdown in some of the states. Keeping all these things in mind, Railway Board has decided to extend the cancellation of all Mail/Express and passenger trains till further
Currently Railway is operating 230 Special Trains across India. The occupancy and patronage of all these special trains are being monitored on a regular basis. The railway will run more Special train based on the requirement of the route. But currently railway will continue to operate 230 Special trains. These trains will keep running for convenience of passengers. These are regular trains which are running as a Special. These are some selected important regular trains, which are running as special. These Special trains will keep running. Passengers can travel on these trains.
