Accident occurred when Nellai Express was being moved to pit line
Three railway workers sustained minor injuries when the last coach of the Nellai Express knocked off the buffer stop even while being taken to the pit line on Friday.
After reaching Tirunelveli Junction from Chennai on Friday morning, the train was hauled to the pit line around noon for routine cleaning operation. The locomotive pilot failed to notice the last coach of the train approaching the buffer stop. The slowly moving train knocked off the warning structure in which three railway workers
sustained minor injuries. They were taken to the Railway Hospital where they received first-aid.
The last coach of the train and the railway track for about few metres suffered minor damage.
