A special squad from the Commercial branch of the Salem Railway Division conducted special check in train No. 16331 Mumbai – Nagercoil Express on Tuesday and booked 88 cases for ticketless travellers.
The special squad led by M. Shajahan, Assistant Commercial Manager, Salem Railway Division, conducted ticket checking in the running train. A penalty of Rs. 33,650 was slapped and collected from the ticketless travellers.
The squad members checked the pantry car and the kitchen for ensuring cleanliness, preparation of food in a hygienic manner and provision of the same to the passengers
at the prescribed rate. The officials made enquiries with the commuters on the quality of food, according to Railway sources.
