The Konkan Railway has a 756-km-long track from Roha near Mumbai to Thokur, located close to Mangaluru
Train services on the Konkan Railway route in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri district were suspended on Thursday morning after a river overflowed following heavy rains in the area, an official said.
"Eight trains have been regulated due to the disruption of the route," Konkan Railway Corporation Limited's Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Baban Ghatge told PTI.
Few days ago it was landslip near Mangalore, followed by tunnel flooding near Karmali (Goa) and now at Ratnagiri. Probably goes to show the importance of having an alternate route as well for trains and not keep having all trains via Konkan. Most of the train options from West (Gujarat) and Mumbai and surroundings towards Mangalore, Kerala are routed via Konkan . Everything either comes to a standstill or gets heavily delayed with so many disruptions
Route via Pune,Mira,Belgaum to Madgaon is an alternate routej
Yes, this is an alternate route but many stretches are single lines....dont think as of now lots of new trains are being started in this stretch Even if they do doubling till Londa, its the Londa MAO stretch which is a big botteneck.
I think they are going further via Ubl, Ask, Kjm. Entire Konkan route skip.
