Employees of the South Central Railway here on Tuesday remembered the architect of the Indian Constitution B.R. Ambedkar and paid their tributes to him on his death anniversary.
Addressing a modest gathering, Additional General Manager, A.K. Gupta said that propagating the principles of the Constitution would be a fitting tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
‘Gift to people’
He said people of the
nation remembered him every day for his ‘gift’ to the people - the Constitution of India, that provided for equality, freedom and justice to all. Mr. Gupta said that the Indian Railways that held the image of being the nation’s lifeline, transporting passenger and goods, was committed to upholding the ideals of Ambedkar.
“We should utilise the occasion to extensively propagate the principles of the Constitution and ensure that the fruits of democracy reach the people,” he said.
Others who addressed the gathering included Chief Personnel Officer, N.V. Ramana Reddy, Chief Personnel Officer (Administration), G. Srinivas Reddy, General Secretary, SCR Mazdoor Union, Shankar Rao and President, SCR Employees Sangh, Prabhakar Andrews.
