NAVI MUMBAI: A 30-year-old woman from Seawoods allegedly jumped off a moving train with her 10-month-old daughter near Vashi on Sunday. While the woman, Rasika Khemkar, died, the baby, Ananya, survived.
Rasika, whose daughter has blood cancer, had separated from her second husband. Her parents told the railway police that Rasika seemed to be "severely depressed" on the day she ended her life. Senior inspector of the railway police, Pramod Dhawre, said that Rasika's parents have said that she had barely spoken to them at home that day. "She jumped off a Panvel-bound train with the baby at night," said Dhawre.
added that Rasika had separated from her second husband who is the baby's father and had been staying at her parents' house. She had also taken up a sales job at a mall.
