Subsequent to the Ministry of Home Affairs order regarding movement of migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at different places by special trains, Indian Railways is operating “Shramik Special” trains form 1st May 2020. As on 3rd June 2020, a total of 4197 “Shramik Special” trains have been operationalized from various states across the country. 81 trains were on the run till 09.00 am in the morning. Till now, more than 58 lacs migrants have been transported through Shramik Special Trains in 34 days. These 4197 trains were originated from various states. The top five States/UTs from where maximum trains originated are Gujarat (1026 Trains), Maharashtra (802 Trains), Punjab(416 Trains), Uttar Pradesh (294 Trains) and Bihar (294 Trains). These “Shramik Special” Trains were terminated in various States across the country. The top five states where maximum trains terminated are Uttar Pradesh (1682 Trains), Bihar (1495 Trains), Jharkhand (197 Trains), Odisha (187 Trains), West Bengal (156 Trains). It may be noted that trains running now are not facing any congestion. In addition to Shramik specials, Railways are running 15 pairs of special Rajdhani type trains connecting New Delhi and started 200 more time tabled trains on 1st June.
In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, as requested by State Governments, Railways has reduced the number of stoppages for the special trains which have been introduced from 1st June, 2020 in their respective state. Accordingly, some of the stoppages have been deleted in the State of Andhra Pradesh for the trains originating / terminating / passing through the State.

I.E-Tickets: a)All tickets booked for the destinations that have been deleted, shall be automatically cancelled. b)Further, IRCTC shall refund fare for such cancelled tickets without deduction of cancellation charges. II.Counter Reserved Tickets:
a) The PNR shall be cancelled in the reservation system prior to the preparation of first reservation chart. b)Full refund of fare shall be granted without deduction of cancellation charges on surrendering of original tickets across any reservation counter within 30 days of the date of journey. c)In case of counter tickets booked through digital transactions, refund of fare shall be credited to the account from which transactions has been made.
After comprehensive lull of train services during lock down period, 05955 Up Dibrugarh-Delhi Special train reached Bhagalpur station today (3.6.2020). This is the first special train ran on this section to cater to the rail transportation need of the intending passengers. All the passengers were gone through thermal screening and were given hand sanitiser before boarding the train. They maintained social distancing while entraining.
Eastern Railway’s RPF and other staff helped the passengers to undergo the schedule of all protocols. Similar measures are observed in all special trains of Eastern Railway.
ER is continuing unabated freight service since the beginning of Nationwide lock down to ensure supply of essential commodities and other itemsat different areas. Even during the lock down period ER’s RPF is maintaining strict vigilance for security of the passengers in Special Trains as well as curbing any kind of touting activity. ER’s RPF has also extended their helping hand by maintaining social distancing, screening of the passengers , distributing food & water among the passengers of Shramik Special trains and distributing food among the needy people at different areas. ER’s RPF has also distributed cooked food among 250 needy people at Asansolarea on 2.6.2020, among 295 persons at Asansol area on 1.6.2020 and among 70 needy people at Nabadwip Dham area on 1.6.2020. Moreover, ER’s RPF at Asansol in association with a NGO , under operation ‘Muskata Bachpan’ has distributed toys, chocolates, biscuits, pens, pencils, drawing books etc among the children travelling in Shramik Special train.
