By this year-end, the Statue of Unity to get Indian Railways connectivity! Soon, travellers visiting the world’s tallest statue- the Statue of Unity in the state of Gujarat will have a hassle-free train journey. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal recently said the national transporter is committed to complete the rail connectivity to the Statue of Unity by 31 December 2020. The Kevadia Rail Link project, once completed, is expected to give a boost to the state’s tourism activities. Currently, Indian Railways’ Vadodara, Bharuch and Ankleshwar stations provide rail connectivity to the iconic statue. Besides, the nearest airports to the Statue of Unity are Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport and Vadodara Airport.

New Delhi: The Indian Railways has decided to do away with the pantry cars in long-distance trains and replace them with AC-3 tier coaches.
With the COVID-19 outbreak, special trains are being operated without pantry cars. Hence, the railway has decided to continue this system in post-COVID-19.
By discontinuing panty cars, the railway has estimated to generate an additional revenue of Rs 1,400 crore per annum. At present, over 350 trains are operating with pantry cars. All these pantry cars are functioning on a contract basis. Hence, the railway will not incur any

I can see a lot of pantry staff guys are going to lose their jobs unless they get hire in base kitchens or someplace else by IRCTC. This Govt is suppose to create jobs not terminating existing ones.
But, this is temporary. It is due to covid-19 situation. They will get back their jobs again once the regular services start.

NEW DELHI: The "zero-based" timetable for all passenger trains, which is likely to see many firsts including the dropping of nearly 600 mail/express trains and doing away with about 10,200 halts including night halts, would be notified in the next couple of months.
As per the plan, around 360 passenger trains would be upgraded as mail/express trains and 120 mail/ express trains would be upgraded to super fast trains category. Sources said the railway ministry is finalising the plan and would be notified soon.
