The Anantnag-Qazigund and Qazigund-Banihal sections remained closed due to snow, but were cleared by 6 p.m. and expected to reopen December 29, 2024, weather permitting. Approximately 80-85% of the 130km stretch was cleared. A WDM locomotive with a snow cutter was deployed. A Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) inspection of the 17km Katra-Reasi section is scheduled for January 2025, with a report on the Reasi-Sangaldan section already submitted. The Reasi-Sangaldan section's completion will connect Jammu and Kashmir by rail.
