Passenger satisfaction for Tejas Express has been high, but many say that the entertainment and catering services need to improve on the train, which began its run on the Mumbai-Karmali route from May 22.
Commuter feedback data from 243 passengers on May 27 and 28 revealed a high level of satisfaction across all categories of services.
However, 47 of the 243 feedback forms described the entertainment services as “average“. “Although many passengers have given `excellent' and `very good' rating, we feel that more content in the form of music and films need to...
more... be provided. We have also taken note of the fact that many demanded disposable earphones for reasons of hygiene,“ a senior official said.
Catering services remain an area of concern as 33 people billed it as “average“. The official said, “Even for cate ring the feedback is excellent, but we need to consider introducing local cuisine to suit the taste buds of passengers. Also, some items can be provided on payment.“
Washroom services were appreciated, but some sug gested that they should be cleaned on a regular basis.
A senior official said, “We have decided to make frequent announcements, especially about the dos and don'ts, so that passengers also cooperate as far as littering, usage of toilets, handing of entertainment gadgets, etc is concerned.“
Officials said automaticdoor closure was also an issue so frequent announcements will be made henceforth on the platform as well as on trains to ensure that nobody get stranded.
Moreover, many passengers want the train to depart later from CST. “Many , especially those in the western suburbs, want the train to depart from CST at 5.30am instead of 5am so that they can come to Dadar station by a local train to board it.“
Tejas, which boasts of a maximum speed of 200 kmph, has speed restrictions en route and reaches Goa in eight and a half hours.
