Siliguri MLA Dr. Shankar Ghosh Demands

I met the honorable Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw at Rail Bhawan in New Delhi.

In this meeting, I requested his prompt consideration of the following proposals to address Siliguri's long-pending needs:

1. Night Train Connectivity: One night train from NJP (Siliguri) to Sealdah station (Kolkata) after 10:30 p.m. for night connectivity between North Bengal and South Bengal.

2. Train to South India: One train from Cooch Behar/Alipurduar to Kolkata and then to South India.

3. Train to Patna: One train from Siliguri to Patna.

4. Vande Bharat Sleeper Coach: Introduction of Vande Bharat sleeper coaches to enhance passenger comfort and experience.

5. Metro or Monorail: Introduction of a metro or monorail from Siliguri to Kharibari to improve urban mobility and connectivity.

6. DRM Office: Establishment of a DRM office at New Jalpaiguri to strengthen railway administration and services.

7. Small Vehicle and Foot Over Bridge: Construction of a small vehicle and foot over bridge at Bagrakot near Siliguri Town Station to ensure safe and convenient passage.

8. Heritage Recognition: Heritage recognition for Siliguri Town station to preserve its historical significance and promote tourism.

9. Survey for Railway Line Diversion: A survey to assess the feasibility of diverting the railway line outside Siliguri City to reduce congestion and enhance safety.

What do you guys think about the Darjeeling Mail running from Siliguri/NJP again? Should it run from NJP/SGUJ again? Tickets are filling faster than usual, and the Tatkal quota is much higher. People booking two to three months in advance are still getting RAC/WL. The train's rake is poorly maintained; it's pathetic service by HDB. Cockroaches and bugs are seen in the old sleeper coaches. Also, it only stops at NJP for 10-12 minutes, which is insufficient.

Kya sochte ho dost! Siliguri/NJP se Darjeeling Mail fir se chale? NJP/SGUJ se fir se chalni chahiye ya nahi? Tickets bahut jaldi book ho rahi hain, aur Tatkal quota bhi kaafi zyada hai. Log 2-3 mahine pehle book kar rahe hain phir bhi unhe RAC/WL mil raha hai. Train ki rake bohot buri tarah se maintain hai, HDB ki itni pathetic service. Purane sleeper coaches mein cockroach aur keede bhi dikh rahe hain. Aur NJP pe sirf 10-12 minute ke liye rukti hai, yeh kaafi nahi hai.

Siliguri WDP4 20066, khali engine, Siliguri Junction ki taraf reverse ho raha hai.
