Aishbagh (ASH) - Sitapur (STP) 89Km section which is undergoing for gauge conversion since 15-May-2016 and as on date 80 to 90% work has been completed (Only track related; station building yet to get completed). If source to be believed a new intersection has been approved in GC where trains coming from Aishbagh (ASH) can go either to Sitapur (STP) or Sitapur Cantt. (SCC) which means new route from Aishbagh (ASH) to Shahjehanpur (SPN) will come in existence and this will server as alternative route from Lucknow junction (LJN) to Delhi (DLI/ANVT/NDLS) stations. This newly laid intersection will also help trains coming from Mailani (MLN) to go Gonda (GD) and Gorakhpur (GKP) route.
representation pic for future intersection.

On 25-Jun-2017 visited Sitapur junction (STP) and tried to detail the ASH-STP GC status report :
Track : 84 out of 86 km track laying has been completed however rest 2km pending track is from Lucknow area. Rail welding almost completed. Clipping is ongoing. Stone filling and finishing of track yet to start. At Sitapur railway station around 200 meters of track yet to get laid due to SCC-BUW single electric line which is operational. As on date no date been announced for taking mega block for laying 200 meters tracker (diamond crossing).
: Cabling for signals has been almost completed for entire stretch however only couple of signals can be seen as on date. Couple of old MG signals still can be seen which either will be uprooted or may be updated.
Bridge : Construction or modification for all the major and minor bridges either been completed or almost completed. Gomti bridge which come in between Daliganj (DAL) and Lucknow city (LC) railway station is still under modification and expected to be completed by September 2017.
Buildings : Only 30 - 70% work has been completed for many railway stations which means many of the stations building might not be fully ready while CRS inspection or inauguration.
Overall status :
Aug;2017 - Track will be ready & light loco can run
Sep;2017 - Signal will be ready
Oct;2017 - Station basic infrastructure would be ready
Nov;2017 - CRS inspection can be requested
Dec;2017 - Section commencement can be expected
All above dates are tentative

According to railway terminology, Diamond crossing includes formation of 2 acute & 2 obtuse angles whereas in Nagpur it's more properly a Square crossing.

Though it comes quite close to being square, the Nagpur crossing too is technically a diamond crossing ( the rails are not exactly at 90 degrees to each other). In addition, it is what is known as a one-way diamond crossing. The main line towards Gondia, does not have any gap in the rails, as is normally expected at diamond crossings. The freight yard line, run slightly elevated over the main line with a gap in it's rails. This allows the main line traffic to move at faster speeds over the crossing.
