This is a new feature showing past edits to this News Post.
Electrification work on the 106 km stretch of Vijayawada-Uppaluru-Bhimavaram route has been completed and commissioned today.
Out of this, an 18 km stretch between Vijayawada and Uppaluru is single line while the remaining 88 km between Uppaluru and Bhimavaram Town is double line.
In all, 226 track kilometres of electrification was completed.

completed work is part of Vijayawada–Gudivada–Bhimavaram–Narsapur, Gudivada–Machilipatnam & Narsapur–Nidadavolu doubling and electrification project, and is expected to cost Rs. 3,000 crores.
Work on the project began in 2011-12. Rail Vikas Nigam Limited is the executing agency for the project. Safety inspection by the Commissioner for Railway Safety was conducted on 19th and 20th January 2021.

(SCR) completed and commissioned 106km-long
of the railway line between Vijayawada-Uppaluru-Bhimavaram sections under Vijayawada railway division on Thursday.

88 kilometres. The total length of electric traction in terms of track kilometres in the section is 226 kilometres.
The electrification project is expected to significantly strengthen rail transport infrastructure for seamless movement of freight and passenger traffic. The new double rail line is expected to save energy and reduce fuel expenditure and reduce carbon footprint.
The railway safety commissioner inspected the electric traction between Vijayawada-Uppaluru single line and the double line section between Uppaluru-Bhimavaram town recently before authorising the zone to run passenger and freight trains on the section.

Vijayawada: In a major boost to the rail connectivity to the people of Krishna and West Godavari districts with North Coastal Andhra and the states of West Bengal, Odisha and is southern neighbours, the Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) has completed and commissioned 69 km of doubling of railway line between Uppaluru-Gudivada-Moturu and Gudivada-Machilipatnam on Thursday.
The newly commissioned double rail line section forms part of the Vijayawada-Gudivada-Bhimavaram-Narsapur, Gudivada-Machilipatnam and Narsapur-Nidadavolu doubling and electrification project being executed at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore by South Central Railway (SCR).

the project were formalised by the rail ministry and work was entrusted to RVNL, the public sector undertaking of the ministry. Accordingly, the project execution was taken up in different phases. Out of the total length of 221 km of the project, 124 km is now completed and commissioned on Thursday. The balance of 97 km work is due for completion by mid-2021.
This new line holds huge potential to ignite the economy of the central coastal belt of Andhra Pradesh state. Business activity in the entire hinterland of the region, ranging from agriculture to aqua culture will get a big boost with access to various markets becoming more easy and convenient. Passenger train connectivity will also increase to various destinations towards Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nellore, Tirupati, etc., in the state.
Long distance travel towards cities as Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata will also becomes more convenient.
Yet another major benefit is, the project will pave way for a reliable alternative rail route to main line between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, which can be used in the event of any disturbance to train services on account of natural calamities like cyclones and heavy rains, the region is prone for.

The South Central Railway (SCR) commissioned the doubling of the line between Moturu and Akiveedu stations in Gudivada-Bhimavaram section of Vijayawada division on Monday with the running of Narasapur-Nagarsol Express (Train no.17231).
SCR took up the doubling and electrification project between Vijayawada-Gudivada-Bhimavaram-Narsapur and Gudivada-Machilipatnam and Bhimavaram-Nidadavolu sections in 2011-12 for a distance of 221 km for providing an impetus to the development of the coastal belt of Andhra Pradesh, according to a press release by SCR Chief Public Relations Officer Ch. Rakesh Kumar.

was ₹1,501 crore, 50% of which was shared by the Andhra Pradesh government.
Executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. with 2020-21 as the deadline, the project comprised five phases namely Vijayawada–Moturu (51.50 km), Moturu-Bhimavaram Town (53.50 km), Bhimavaram Town-Nidadavolu (49.75 km), Gudivada-Machilipatnam (36.74 km) and Bhimavaram-Narasapur (29.48 km).
The Moturu-Akiveedu line has four major and 131 minor bridges and 23 level crossing gates, and 11.50 lakh cubic meters of earthwork was done.
The completed stretch was certified by the Commissioner of Railway Safety in March 2019. The remaining work between Akiveedu and Bhimavaram town was under progress and was expected to be completed by November 2019.

Dear Folks,
Atleast by this initiative 30mins of travel time can be saved in the mentioned area by skipping so called concept of crossings.
A Big thanks to SCR, IR and to all the stakeholders who have participated in the stretch extension.
As commuter from AKIVIDU i personally extend my greetings to the mentioned authorities for making rail journey ease and smooth.
