In view of the Complete Lockdown in Chennai area as announced by the State Government from 19th June to 30th June 2020, All the PRS (Passenger Reservation System) Locations falling under the Lockdown area in Chennai and certain parts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur Districts falling under Chennai lockdown area will be kept closed from 19th June to 30th June 2020. The Elephant Gate Bridge near Chennai Central is set to become history. Starting today, Southern Railway has decided to begin demolition of the 105 year old bridge between Basin Bridge and Chennai Central stations.

This bridge isn't a big monument or an heritage site. If anything of great historical significance is associated with this bridge then there may be a need for its preservation. On the contrary it is just a normal bridge built for the movement of road traffic. Sooner or later all old utility structures without much historical significance will have to be demolished to build infrastructure needed for the present times. Preservation is an expensive affair and not all structures needs to be preserved. Development, cost of preservation and historical significance needs to be taken into account before taking a decision on heritage structures. Coming to this bridge, it has come to the end of its life. Four wheeler traffic was stopped sometime back as the bridge was not suitable. Debris started falling on the tracks. Now it is the time for this bridge to go and moreover it always hindered railway

Accordingly, Train No. 07324 Hubli - Chennai Central Bi-Weekly Tatkal Special train will depart Hubli at 20:20 hrs on 7th, 9th, 14th, 16th, 21st, 23rd, 28th & 30th March, 2016 (Mondays & Wednesdays) and arrive/depart Guntakal at 01:50/01:55, Renigunta at 08:10/08:25 hrs and arrive Chennai Central at 11:10 hrs on the next day.
SR ,SCR &SWR shall be operated this train as SF. Since this is only operated Bi weekly train.
