PCR in-charge of southwest district, and PCR van (Zebra-6) was dispatched to the spot. The source said that assistant sub-inspector Jagannath and head constable Vikram Singh from Zebra-6 reached the spot. They realized that a train could arrive at any moment and that an accident was evitable under the given circumstances. Jagannath did not waste any more time and began to run towards the railway gate-where a control room was located-to inform them about the broken tracks. Vikram, meanwhile, spotted a lineman walking near the tracks wearing a red shirt. Sources said that train number 54086 from Bareilly to Rewari was spotted on the tracks minutes later. Vikram, accompanied by the lineman, began to run on the tracks waving the red shirt. The train driver spotted the two and applied emergency brakes. He managed to stop the train about 100m away from the broken part of the tracks, an eyewitness said. All trains on the route were asked to stop, a source said. The tracks were repaired by a team of railway staff after which the train was given the signal to pass. The policemen have been recommended for a reward.
