The foundation stone for the construction of Road Over Bridge THIRD Gate (Level crossing No.381) was done on 6th Jan 2019 by Late Suresh Angadi.
The SWR engineers now plan to commence the actual work on the RoB from October first week 2019.
The Targeted Completion was March 2020 but due to COVID deadline was extended.

now for over a month no work is going on the site.
Big trenches have been dug up which has no barricading or safety tapes. The work here is also on the lines of the Smart city work with no safety precautions in mind.
Imagine no workers have turned up on the site for over a month now.
Why is there such a delay is not yet known?

Cost of the RoB: 27.28 Crores
Span of RoB: 1 x 2 x 54 Bowstring Girder
Approaches: Panaji Side: (5+6) x 18 m PSC (250 m)
Belagavi Side: (7+6) x 18 m PSC (331 m)
Contractor: M/s KRISHI INFRATECH
Targeted Completion: March 2020
4 Lane Approach
The RoB is sanctioned at a cost of Rs.27.28 Crore on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis between ministry if Railways and Govt of Karnataka.
The 1 x 2 x 54 Bowstring Girder with 4 lane approach roads will give respite to the road users and help in building up the infrastructure for Belagavi city.

Shri. Iranna Kadadi, Member of Parliamment (Rajya Sabha) has requested the Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal that changes be made in the planned new Belagavi-Dharwad railway line between KK Koppa and Desur.
MP Kadadi met the Railways Minister at Udyog Bhawan in New Delhi and presented the memorandum to Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal. Union Minister has promised to take appropriate action.

Because of the planned railway line, these farmers will have to lose their fertile black land which gives 2-3 different crops a year. By visiting the respective villages, I have learned the views of the people there. Farmers cultivate paddy, sugarcane, sweet potato, potato, soybean and vegetables in the black soil of these villages. Therefore, the farmers will have to lose this fertile land due to the planned railway line. If this happens, the livelihood of the farmers and their families will be in jeopardy, said MP Kadadi.
The MP requested that the rail route be changed from Desur to KK Koppa and this will reduce the length by 8 kms which will in turn save 150 crores for the Railways, the note added.

Pralhad Joshi Union minister for parliamentary affairs, coal and mines spaeking in Hubbali said the work of Dharwad- Belagavi rail line would be expedited.
The minister said, Dharwad- Belagavi new line work would be expedited I have spoken to Union railway minister Piyush Goyal in this regard. 
We are committed to finish the long pending railway projects of the state, new railway line works are delayed due to land acquisition, we have requested the CM to allocate land for the works, we will ensure that all the projects get completed at the earliest possible.

97 kms stretch will need Rs.545.550 crores and the Rate of return estimated by railways is 7.08%.
The first basic survey was done in 2003. The survey was submitted to the Railway board for approval and also the planning commission in 2012.
There would be 13 stations in-between Belgaum and Dharwad namely: Halga, Ganikoppa, Tigudi, Sampagaon, Bailvadi, Bailhongal, Naginhal, Hunshikatti, Kittur, Teguru, Heggeri, Mommingatti, Kyrakop.
Belgaum is proposed to be made as a junction along with Kyrakop.
It is to be seen in this years budget if any allocation is made for the actual work to commence. 
Why the proposed route of KK kop, Bagewadi, M.K. Hubli, Kittur etc. Is it that with the sad demise of Sri Suresh Angadiji his dream plans of that route and the proposed Railway factory at Kittur got shelved?

Route changed again, now it will got via Kittur - Bailhongal instead of Kittur - Desur. Belagavi will be made as junction will loco reversal for North bound trains.

According to the MLA Yellow Ornamental Bamboo saplings will be planted on sides of railway tracks from 3rd Gate to Military Mahadev.
This will look beautiful and simultaneously reduce the noise coming from railway and residents nearby areas will have less disturbance.

The Competent authority has accorded sanction to ” Belagavi-Dharwad via Kittur New Line Project (73 Km)” at a cost of Rs.927.40 Cr (Rupees nine hundred twenty seven crone and forty lakh only) included in Budget 2019-20 under the Umbrella Work of New Lines.
MoSR Shri Suresh Angadi gave this information in a presser held at his office.

train line between Dharwad and Belagavi has been the long standing demand of people of North Karnataka. The present Rail connectivity between these two important cities through Londa junction is circuitous route. The time taken for Rail travel is approximately 3 hrs.
Though earlier the initial survey was done in 2013-14, as the proposal was not approved then, it was decided to take up fresh survey. The work was entrusted to K-RIDE The survey was completed in record time of two years.
With this new line the distance between the three Important cities Hubballi, Dharwad and Belagavi will reduce resulting in significant development. Running time of trains between Hubballi to Belagavi will also reduce
The New BG line will have following stations i.e. 1) Belagavi 2) Desur 3) Kanvikarvinkoppa 4) Bagewadi 5) M.K. Hubballi 6) Hulikatti 7) Kittur 8) Teguru 9) Mammigatti 10) Kyarakoppa 11) Dharwad
For this new line State Government of Karnataka has committed to provide land free of cost and share 50, cost of construction Upcoming Industrial Corridor of Belgaum — Kittur- Dharwad will be benefitted from this line.
The existing alignment passes through difficult terrain in Western Ghat via Londa which increases the journey time. Presently Mumbai- Bangalore fastest trains take around 21 hours as they follow the circuitous route via Guntakal This new line will save about 3 hours of journey time between the two important commercial centers.
11 stations inbetween Belagavi and Dharwad.
Land for the project will be handed over to Railways free of cost by the State Government of Karnataka and the construction cost of the project will be shared as 50:50 between Railway and State Government of Karnataka. Railways share is chargeable to Extra Budgetary Resources (EBR-IF). 3. This issue with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.

This doesn't mean that there will be sharp curves on the alignment. The map you see is only a bird's eye view of the alignment and is too zoomed out to show the actual small turns.

Look at the Hubli-Londa route in the same image. It is shown as a smooth line, whereas in reality the route is full of sharp turns. So, don't take this as an exact alignment of the tracks.

Turns themselves are not the problem for high speed runs. There are many high speed routes with large turns and trunk routes like MAS-HWH, MAS-NDLS etc have a few places where the tracks curve around almost by 90 degress. But these are very wide curves and are properly canted so that trains can run on them at MPS. At a first glance, it appears that something similar will be done in this case too.

And most importantly, a small deviation of 5km to cover more places would always be preferred as railways need to optimize coverage and speed.

Yes, got the answer, in local news paper they mentioned Bagewadi station is meant to cater people from Bailhongal taluk/town, looks like that is why they aligned like this. In future they have plans to bifurcate a line from Bgk-Kud line at Lokapur via Yargatti, Bailhongal to Bagewadi to make is as junction.

This is just approval, when it comes to reality will take 3 or 4 years to lay a 70+ kms of track. SWR is slower than IR in executing key projects.
Best example is Tumkur to Davangere falls in same concept reduction in travel time ...but what happened so far .....zero progress.

Without completing Tumkur Davanagere line, no effect will be there in Mumbai Bangalore route.
Similarly, Tumkur Ballari line can make difference in travel to Raichur Gulbarga.
Without completing these lines, no benefit for travellers.
