The attack occurred around 2 AM Thursday when an unknown assailant stabbed Saif Ali Khan at his home. Khan underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital and is now out of danger. Mumbai Police have questioned over 50 people and deployed 35 teams to investigate.

The accused, Harish Kumar Pakra (24) from Balodabazar, met Chandrakar at Bilaspur railway station on December 23rd. They partied at Chandrakar's house on December 24th. Pakra confessed to killing Chandrakar after an unnatural act angered him. He used a kitchen tava (griddle) as a weapon. Police apprehended Pakra in Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon district, while he was attempting to flee to Maharashtra. Chandrakar had sold his village property to build the house in Chilhati.
