Hyderabad: Telangana Genco on Monday asked South Central Railway (SCR) to lay a second railway line from Kothagudem to Dornakal and from Motamaari to Vishnupuram, covering a total distance of 200 km, to carry coal to the under-construction 4,400 megawatt Dameracherla Thermal Power Station in Nalgonda district.Genco Chairman & Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao, during a meeting with SCR Principal Chief Manager K Siva Prasad, Chief Manager D Nagya and Genco directors Narsing Rao and Venkatarajyam, said the existing railway line was not capable of handling the load of 50,000 tonnes of coal a day required for the power plant.The existing 100 km single railway line between Motamaari and Bibinagar on the Dornakal-Vijayawada line and between Bibinagar and Vishnupuram on the Bibinagar-Nadikudi line can handle only about five or six rakes of coal. The Dameracharla plant will require 14 rakes of coal a day, each comprising 59 wagons, and the existing line...
was not capable of handling the load, Prabhakar Rao said.“Since the line between Dornakal and Kothagudem too is a similar condition, and in view of these issues, a double line should be constructed between Kothagudem-Dornakal and Motamaari-Vishnupuram,” Prabhakar said.According to a release from Genco, Prabhakar informed the SCR officials that construction of the power plant was progressing swiftly. The meeting also discussed supply of coal to Uppal railway station from where it was being taken to the Bhupalpally Thermal Power Station. Uppal, which falls on the Kazipet-Balarshah railway line, serves as the unloading point for coal. From there, the coal is transported by trucks to Bhupalpally. Since this line is one of the busiest sections on the Chennai-New Delhi route, the unloading of coal sometimes affects other train services, according to railway officials.Genco and SCR officials discussed the options of constructing a new track a little away from the Uppal station where a coal dumpyard can be set up along with the possibility of laying a new line between Uppal and Bhupalpally, the release added.

Khammam: The stage is all set for passenger trains to ply between Motamarri to Miryalaguda route, which will reduce 60 kilometres distance to reach Secunderabad from Vijayawada through Miryalaguda and Nalgonda stations.
The completion of the last stretch of railway line of Mathamapalli –Raghavapuram of Jaggaiahpet-Mellacheruvu- Janapad new line that connects Vishnupuram on Secunderabad-Guntur route with Motamarri has paved a way for running passenger trains on the route. The route up to Jaggaiahpet, so far, is being used to shift iron ore from Jaggiahapet to Visakhapatnam.
The route has been opened for goods
traffic at present. Passenger trains can also ply this route. Railway officials are considering the line as a key to reduce train traffic between Kazipet and Vijayawada.
Further, the route can be used as a loop line in case of emergency and any problem that arises between Khammam and Secunderabad line.
Another key factor of Motamarri-Vishnupuram line is the distance between Vijayawada to Secunderabad will be reduced to 60km if some passenger trains ply this route.
The journey duration between two cities will be reduced to one-and-a-half hour. Some passenger trains running from Kolkata and Visakhapatnam can be diverted to this route.
Secondly, the railways can save power consumption reducing the financial burden on the exchequer. The route will also introduce passenger service to the people of Jaggaiahpet and Makkapet in Krishna district and Janapad, Mathampalli and Vishunupuram areas in Nalgonda district.
Both Telangana and AP can benefit through this new route.
The second line between Motamarri and Jaggaiahpet is also being done. People in these areas are requesting the railways to run one or two passenger trains to their areas as part of introducing rail services to the people there.

It depends whether vishunupuram has bypass line if a train from bza bypass(rayanpadu) takes new line then to vishunupuram as per iri atlas no bypass a train has to take loco reversal then to sc so total time waste .
