Electrification of Section between Ballari to Rayadurga (53 Rkm) was completed in Dec 2019. Electrification of Thornagallu and Hosapete has been completed in Feb 2020
Most probably only freight traffic will be there. Unless Tumkur Chitradurga line is complete, we can't expect any benefit.
To expedite the execution of Railway projects in Karnataka, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has recently written to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to take appropriate action for easing various bottlenecks.
Land acquisition issues, as well as delay in obtaining clearances from the Ministry of Environment and Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC), are cited as reasons holding up completion of various projects.
The letter states that new line, gauge conversion and doubling works are among infrastructure projects being undertaken along with transmission line works for electrification projects in the state.
This has to speed up, hopes are high if change of guard happens in state govt.
State says, center not releasing funds, counter part center says state is slow in clearing hurdles...politics and thats it. For any state to develop fast, center and state govts must be same party, else finger pointing continues and projects get stuck in queue for decades. Yet disappointed that Blore - Tumkur - Hubli - Miraj - Pune electrification is not mentioned
Bengaluru - Miraj electrification has got allocations in pink book - 2019-20 under 3 projects viz., Chikkabanavara - Hubballi, Londa - Miraj, Hosapete - Hubballi - Vasco Da Gama (Hubballi - Londa section is included in this project)

The laying of the Rayadurg-Tumakuru line is progressing at a snail’s pace because of delay in allotment of land to the Railways.
This was made known when V. Ravikumar, representing the Ballari District Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Zonal Rail Users’ Consultative Committee meeting held recently, urged Ajay Kumar Singh, general manager of South Western Railway zone, to complete the project expeditiously.
The line, after completion, will reduce the distance between Ballari and Bengaluru and will help passengers avoid the circuitous route being used at present.
So sad to here this almost 10yrs passed still land aqisition is going on.....
