Dakshina Kannada ke MP Captain Brijesh Chowta existing Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road Ghat section ke paas wali line ki jagah poori tarah nayi alignment chahte hain, coastal Karnataka ke economic growth ke liye better connectivity ki zaroorat par zor dete hue. Unhone pehle existing line ko double aur electrified karne ki baat ki thi, lekin unka maanana hai ki mushkil terrain ki wajah se nayi line zaroori hai.

The Pashchima Karavali Railway Yatri Abhivriddhi Samithi and the Kukke Shree Subrahmanya-Mangaluru Railway Commuters’ Forum support the extension and advocate for the train to be stabled overnight at Subrahmanya Road, allowing for an early morning departure from Subrahmanya Road to Mangaluru Central. Chowta has suggested that an early morning service could start around 4 a.m. to reach Subrahmanya Road by 6 a.m. with a return trip starting at 6.15 a.m., reaching Mangaluru Central by 9-9.15 a.m.
