Good move. Along with all the activities, scrap the HMRDA agreement, which is a hurdle for travellers.
Just a few days back, I wrote that new line from Hassan to Mulki can be explored and with this realignment project, direct link to Konkan railway should be done bypassing SR areas.
But with industries pressing for Mangalore port link (which is with SR), hope for passenger trains gets reduced.

If new alignment happened for ~25 kms along with proposed NH tunnel, then there will be high chance that HMRDA can get over.
