An off-beat location, sheer delight for railfans
.
Palasdhari is a small, but a very scenic station and an ideal spot for railfanning. It is a RF paradise and absence of RPF and people make it even better. The place is heaven in monsoons with greenery and waterfalls around.
.
Palasdhari...
more... is situated at the foothills of Bor Ghats. While going to Pune from Mumbai, the Bor Ghats begin right after Palasdhari. The train takes an upward sloping curve towards right.
.
Three lines converge at Palasdhari, the CSTM-PUNE Mainline (double) and single electrified track to Khopoli
.
The area has speed restrictions of around 60 kmph due to entry / exit of Ghat area.
.
How to reach:
From Mumbai: Local upto Karjat and walk 3 km ahead to PDI
.
From Pune: Take a train to KJT and come back 3 km to PDI. Can also ask for lift in KYN WAG-7 bankers which return light from LNL-KJT.
.
RF Attraction:
> Trains coming downhill from PUNE side
> Trains going uphill towards PUNE, with WAG-7 triplets as bankers
> EMUs
> Bankers returning light to KJT
> Freights
How about for snacks or to get water bottles?
Ek poora din RF k liye toh zarurat padega na.
Chota sa station hai, jyada kuch nahi milega wahan pe!! Karjat se Diwadkar ka Wada Pav lane ka!! Otherwise ghar se lunch box lekar aao!! Carry enough water, snacks, biscuits, etc. if RF'ing for entire day!!
Correction on How to reach:
From Mumbai: Khopoli Local upto Paladhari and walk 0 km
Any Vantage points/spots around the station?
Yes, small hillocks around station for aerial shots the one Harris has taken in Entry 932981
Soumiz one small correction , there are Locals upto Khopoli so no need to walk From Karjat to PDI , One needs to board Khopoli Local ( less Frequent from CSTM / more frequent from Karjat) and directly get down at PDI and start trekking.
any one free for going pdi...in this month
One more correction: "Three lines converge at Palasdhari, the Karjat-Lonavala Mainline (Triple, NOT just Double) and single electrified track to Khopoli"
