I recently visited kukke Subramanya temple by arriving through a passenger train from MAQ, with my wife. We both are senior citizens. The train arrived in the bay platform in correct time. But it was very difficult to get down in the bay platform. However we managed to get down. But we had a difficult time to get to the main platform (PF 1). There was a trolley path, but we were not able to use it since bankers were stationed right across the path. Railways should make a easy access way to PF 1, which will help elderly people.

Around noon time, there are few but fresh and tasty options for lunch. Pulav/Rice bath, Curd Rice(in disposable plastic boxes) and butter milk. These 3 items sell like hot cakes there from 12 pm to 3 pm. There's also a Nandini stall selling snacks and cold drinks. In the mornings you just get hot beverages and the famous Mangalore Buns.

No waiting rooms, the wind and sun protection sheets on platform are in bad conditions, these leaks the water to platform when its raining.
Power supply keeps interrupting very frequently.

The famous temple of Shree Kukke Subramanya is about 13 kms from this Railway station- Jeeps and autos are readily available outside the station to connect to the temple- Jeeps are generally overloaded to capacity and charge about Rs.30/- per head to reach the Temple. Autos charge Rs.200/- to cover the distance and generally decided by the complete union and hence no bargaining- the main road (Kukke-dharmastala Road) is about a km from Rly station. Buses sometimes ply to the station in connection with train timings(Not present the day I travelled)

Take an auto from SBHR to subramanya rather than the jeep- its more comfortable- From Subramanya regular buses available to Dharmastala
If you are going only to dharmastala then take the jeep- The road is not very good condition and will take about 1.5 hrs to cover
