On November 23, 2024, I traveled on the New Delhi - Katra Vande Bharat Express in the AC Chair Car class. This train is known for its modern design, smooth ride, and punctuality, and it lived up to expectations in most areas.
Comfort and Amenities
The AC Chair Car seats were comfortable and well-suited for the journey. The ride was impressively smooth, reflecting the advanced engineering of the Vande Bharat Express. However, the train was fully packed from New Delhi to Jammu, making the atmosphere a bit crowded.
Food Quality and Service
The evening snacks, provided by the Delhi-based canteen, were average in taste and notably lacking in quantity, which was a slight letdown. Dinner, on the other hand, was a highlight of the journey. Prepared by the Ludhiana-based kitchen, the food was of excellent quality, although the portions were smaller than expected. Additionally, tea was available at an extra cost of ₹20, offering a quick refreshment option during the journey.

Railfans will have a ball at this train especially if they are sitiing at the right side of the train. In the Up direction you will witness both HWH and SDAH Raj near Panagarh and Durgapur respectively. In the return direction, you will feel the mindblowing speed of HWH raj near DGR and SDAH Raj and DUronto back to back near Khana Jn. Nowadays maintains great speed and even notches up to MPS in DGR-BWN section.
