What's the use ? After sometime the new train will also get extended to Kerala (because of SR) and Mangaluru will be back to square one. First the focus should be to get Mangaluru out from SR and get it included in either KR or SWR.

Yaa .u r right.mangalore should get out of this southern railways.
Several trains, including Mangaluru Central-Kacheguda bi-weekly, speeded up
The Southern Railway on Monday announced the new timetable effective from November 1 in which two new trains are proposed to be run via Mangaluru.
They are the bi-weekly Antyoda Express (all unreserved coaches) between Mangaluru Junction and Kochuveli and a weekly Humsafar Express (all 3-tier AC coaches) between Gandhidham and Tirunelveli.
Train No 19424 Gandhidham-Tirunelveli
...
Weekly Humsafar Express leaves Gandhidham on Mondays at 1.50 p.m., leaves Mangaluru Junction at 7.40 p.m. on Tuesdays to reach Tirunelveli at 11.30 a.m. on Wednesdays. Train No 19423 Tirunelveli-Gandhidham Weekly Humsafar Express leaves Tirunelveli at 7.45 am on Thursdays, leaves Mangaluru Junction at 10.10 p.m. and reaches Gandhidham at 4.40 a.m. on Saturdays.
Train No 16356 Mangaluru Junction-Kochuveli (Thiruvananthapuram) bi-weekly Antyodaya Express leaves Mangaluru Junction at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Sundays to reach Kochuveli at 8.15 a.m. the next day. Train No 16355 Kochuveli-Mangaluru Junction bi-weekly Antyodaya Express leaves Kochuveli at 9.25 p.m. on Thursdays and Saturdays to reach Mangaluru Junction at 9.15 a.m. the next day. It would have 18 coaches in all.
The dates of introducing these trains would be notified later, Southern Railway said.
Trains speeded up Train No 17605 Mangaluru Central-Kacheguda (Hyderabad) bi-weekly Express (Wednesdays and Saturdays), which takes 31.30 hours, would now complete the journey to reach Kacheguda in 27.40 hours from November 1.
It leaves Mangaluru Central at 8.15 p.m. instead of 8 p.m. and reach Kacheguda at 11.50 p.m. the next day instead of 3.30 a.m. on the third day.
Train No 16857 Puducherry-Mangaluru Central Weekly Express is speeded up by 75 minutes to reach Mangaluru Central at 9.55 a.m. as against 11.10 a.m. Train No 16858 Mangaluru Central-Puducherry Weekly Express is speeded up by 15 minutes.
Train No 16859/16860 Chennai Egmore-Mangaluru Central-Chennai Egmore Express are speeded up by 60 minutes and 40 minutes, respectively. It leaves Egmore at 11.15 p.m. to arrive at Mangaluru Central at the existing 9.45 p.m.
Departure at Mangaluru Central has been postponed by 10 minutes, 6.55 a.m. so as the arrival time at Egmore by 30 minutes (4.15 a.m).
Train No 16650/16649 Nagercoil Junction-Mangaluru Central-Nagercoil Junction Parasuram Express are speeded up by 25 and 20 minutes, respectively by advancing arrival at Mangaluru Central to 8.15 p.m. and postponing the departure at Mangaluru Central to 5.25 a.m.
Train No 16606/16605 Nagercoil Junction-Mangaluru Central-Nagercoil Junction Ernad Express too are speeded by 15 and 10 minutes, respectively.
Not much for State Rail users in the State, however, regretted that people here have little to cheer about Southern Railway’s new timetable.
Neither Train No 16575/576 Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction-Yeshwantpur tri-weekly Gomateshwara Express has been made daily as per the 2014 Railway Budget announcement nor has it been extended to Mangaluru Central, regretted S. Yogendra from Mysuru Grahakara Parishat.
Similarly, no new trains were announced connecting Mangaluru with cities in the hinterland, including Hubballi and Kalaburagi, he again regretted.

If the season tckt holders are excluded, parasuram will have to work hard to atleast fill its seats against the jammed standing of present. If they are not there parasuram will definitely be a train of loss. There is no doubt about this fact for the public nor the railways.

But see parasuram after the time change. It was running not even to 1/5th of its usual passengers. Seats were vaccant. The usual passengers have lost hope in parasuram express. This is not a long distance train like netravati, mail, etc. The time was adjusted with a pleasing time in south kerala. This will definitely show the reluctance of the railway towards north keralites. We hardly have a train during the peak time while south keralites have sabari, venad, and other special trains and this cannot be held invalid and judged to be irrelevant. Now huge protest even from non-daily passengers arose today bcoz parasuram has failed keep up its time which it always did in north kerala.

I would like to bring the attention of all those members who penalised me for urfing support on the highly creative blunder that trivandrum division did to maintain its punctuality. It was better to have that extra 30 min adjusted to the north side. By this move it is very clear that passengers of north kerala are always treated in a discriminated manner by railway authorities. This is a classic example.
This is despite the recommendation made by Palakkad Division of Southern Railway
While it has been three months since Palakkad Division of Southern Railway recommended to the headquarters to extend Train No. 16575/16576 Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction-Yeshwantpur tri-weekly Gomateshwara Express to Mangaluru Central, the headquarters is yet to take any decision.
Following public outcry against terminating the train at Mangaluru Junction and stiff demand by Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee member G. Hanumanth Kamath to run it till Central, the Division had in June itself recommended to the headquarters to extend the train to Central.
...

While non-availability of platforms, pit-lines (for maintenance), and stabling lines (for parking) at Mangaluru Central is a fact, this could be overcome by shifting a few unpopular trains, the Division had told the headquarters.
If that is done, Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction Express — which arrives at Junction at 5.30 p.m. — may be received at Central at 5.45 pm. Similarly, the Mangaluru Junction-Yeshwantpur Express — which now leaves Junction at 11.30 a.m. — may depart Central at 11.15 a.m., the Division had informed.
The Division had identified three not so-popular trains that can be shifted from Central to Junction to facilitate extension of Gomateshwara Express to Central. They were —Train No. 16859/16860 Chennai Egmore-Mangaluru Central-Chennai Egmore Daily Express; Train No. 16857/16858 Puducherry-Mangaluru Central-Puducherry Weekly Express, and Train No. 17605/17606 Mangaluru Central-Kacheguda-Mangaluru Central Bi-weekly Express. It had said an average of 81 passengers boarded Egmore Express every day from Central between November 2016 and March 2017 while 169 passengers boarded the Kacheguda Express, and 190 people boarded the Puducherry Express.
Rail activists and West Coast Rail Yatri Abhivriddhi Sangha have been arguing that train connectivity to the State capital should be provided from the city centre.
Since Gomateshwara Express is being operated out of Junction, which is out of the city, not many people were enthusiastic to utilise the services, said Anil Hegde, Advisor to the Sangha.
Approval needed
Southern Railway General Manager Vashishta Johri told The Hindu that shifting of terminals of trains within the city requires approval from DRUCC as well as Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC). While DRUCC has already approved the proposal, Mr. Johri did not indicate when the ZRUCC would deliberate the issue. Chief Public Relations Officer P.A. Dhananjayan said headquarters decision cannot be spelt out before it is implemented and added every decision is aimed at enhancing passenger comfort.

"average of 81 passengers boarded Egmore Express every day from Central" - shows MAQ is just a dumping yard for all TN-KL trains. High time they developed a terminal in Malabar region and terminated few trains there. Simply loss to run till Mangaluru when it empties out at CAN/CLT itself.
.
"Even if god grants a boon, the priest wont" - goes the saying. PGT never cares for Mangaluru stations (though the main source of passenger and freight/port revenue), has now (surprisingly) agreed to shift the terminal to MAQ, but now HQ

is sitting on the proposal. Like KL members point out, MAS wont bother to take any decisions regarding PGT. Hopeless situation.

Its time Mangaluru moves out of SR. Palghat just wants to milk all the revenues and made MAQ as a dump for all the useless trains while the only few trains for KA are not allowed to Mangaluru Central.
