The other upgradation works include extension of platform length of platform no.1 & 2 to accommodate 26 coaches, and to extend the platform length of platform No.10& 11 to accommodate 24 coaches. Apart from this, an island platform to accommodate 26 coaches is also being constructed. Among the yard modifications, removal of two diamond crossovers towards Katpadi and the replacement and commissioning of new electronic Interlocked Signalling System will enhance safety and speed at Arakkonam.
