I am a frequent user of this train between Pune and Thane, here are my observations.

Has the same average speed as the DQ. Almost always punctual.

Food served on board is delectable,...

especially the bread cutlets.

Push-pull WAP7s that haul this train display sheer aggression. Excellent for railfans.

2S seats are comfortable. Some coaches even have AC Chair-car type seats!

The Pune bound Intercity is one of the best bet for anyone travelling to Pune from Mumbai. Though it doesn't reaches Pune at promised time, but one would be thrilled to travel by this travel considering the aggression of this train throughout the route. The Catering is best - Try 2 things atleast: Bread-cutlet and Sabudana Vada in this route - You will love the taste! From Mumbai to Karjat, it shows an awesome speed right throughout and you will enjoy the infamous skip of Karjat as well! Even after Karjat till Lonavala it reaches like a rocket with AJNI WAP-7 Push/pull engines at both ends. You will certainly reach Pune by 9:45 AM. The cleanliness is excellent in this train and all standard people travel in this considering the less stoppage and premium like priority in this route!

So i got a chance again to travel on my favourite train the 12127 Intercity express to pune.Add to icing on the cake is that it got LHB!
So here are my reviews
Punctuality:-By far the average delay of this train is 10-15 mins,which is acceptable.And gets a superb priority throughout the route.The only problem is between Thane to Kalyan as many a times this train gets trolled by 15017 Ksshi express due to x-over.Therrafter Intercity runs like a "King" in Kalyan-Karjat and Lonavala-Pune.

i should day Pune division has maintained this train in a very good condition. Toilet was well maintained too.
Comfort:-Many people have complained that LHB non ac chair cars are giving their back a pain! So it would be good option to opt Ac chair car.Same comfort as that of Shatabdis.
Avability:-Just like other trains, purchase the ticket well in advance if travelling on weekends/festival season.Reason being is many people opt this train first for travelling,and the Ac cc in this train gets booked quickly.
Railfanning:-Please opt for General coach.Daily passengers have a "Gundagiri" type on this train as if they own!
Else take deccan.Deccan takes a hell lot of time but good for railfanning.

Sir,There is a small reason about why i choose Intercity express majority of the timei travel to pune.Intercity is one of the fastest train and it reaches pune at 10 am(or whatsoever delay of 10 mins) allowing me to explore pune city and its nearby areas.The timing of intercity express is such that,it gives a perfect 4-5 hour to explore your favourite places in and around pune.And in return,i choose bus to reach mumbai because mumbai bound intercity gets less preference.Although in future commuting,i will try other express trains too. :)

Travelled from Thane to pune yesterday by this train.What to say,probably the best and fastest train to go pune.Skips many halt including kalyan,Catering staffs are good and maintenance is top notch.Here are my observations.
-Gets full priority,especially between Thane-Karjat and Lonavala-Pune
-Fastest train in Mumbai-Pune corridor,averages more than deccan queen(woah!)
-One of the best ICE trains of Indian railway

ghats enthusiast can take this train to explore.
-Takes only 197 mins to pune(if not delayed)
Overall an excellent train.

A Shatabdi converted to ICE, it is the best train to come to Pune from Mumbai in the morning hours. The 2nd fastest on the route after Deccan Queen, it is highly punctual and gets top priority. Passengers will surely enjoy the ride.
