Nope...the name has not been changed.You can check Indian Railways official website, IRCTC, etc., it is only "Deccan Queen".

The name for this train on this site is "Deccan Queen Express".
But the actual name is only "Deccan Queen".
I only want that "Express" word to be removed from both 12123 and 12124.

But in addition to what I've shown above, the announcements at various stations also call it only DQ and not express.The board on the train itself says only DQ and not express.

Simply because we don't have it....it was named DQ which suggests the queen of deccan(pune). It was never named as EXp.

It was never a battle you see. Anyway I've been here in Pune since my birth and it is a pride to call "Deccan Queen" something which we don't get by attaching "Express" to it....that's the magic DQ carries.

Also it would travel via pune which is a diesel track pune onwards.
Hence there is no way it would be hauled by a WAP-7.

Theoretically, 9 hrs is is enough to cover this much distance, but practically it is not possible.There are number of reasons for that.
1.This train covers most of its journey on single line diesel track, so it has to wait number of times for crossing.
2.Locomotive change is needed at Pune.Hence some time goes here also.
3.Even though it is non stop, technical stoppages...
