Kolkata, 20thSeptember, 2020:
South Eastern Railway,in a bid to make high-speed movement of train services for reaching the passengers and goods totheir destinations faster,has decided to accelerate the maximum permissible sectionalspeed limitfrom 110 kmph to 130 kmph in up, down and middle lines between Andul and Kharagpur stations (102 km)on Howrah-KharagpurSection in Kharagpur Division.

As such, including both the Up and Down lines in these sections, a total of 2,824 kms (1412Rkms)has now been made fit to run at a speed of 130 kmph. This covers the entire GQ-GD route over SCR, except Vijayawada - Duvvada section, where signaling up-gradation work is in progress.

We have already increased speed limit between Itarsi-Balharshah on the Delhi-Chennai sector to 120 kmph, while work on the remaining sections is on,” a senior CR official said.
In a presentation made by the CR General Manager D K Sharma to the Railway Board on May 30, the CR plans to increase the sectional speed limit to 110 kmph by 2018-19.
These sections include Diva-Panvel-Roha, .., Pune-Miraj-Kolhapur, .., Manmad to Solapur, Chhatarapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Kasara and Boisar-Diva.
