Open prepaid account with IRCTC and book your rail ticket...
Booking railway tickets will be a tad easier and faster once a system of having an account with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) comes into being.
In a bid to make booking easier, the IRCTC has decided to launch a Rolling Deposit Scheme (RSD), under which anyone can deposit the desired amount in the account to be opened with the service provider.
The

user could purchase tickets from the money deposited by using the RSD card as a novel payment option, which the IRCTC claims has advantages over the other modes of payment. The system would enable hassle-free and secured transactions, besides saving time by eliminating the payment approval sequence. It reduces the user’s dependence on banks and their servers and allows for booking tickets directly through the RSD mode. The other benefit is that the user need not make the payment gateway charges. The tedious process of using credit or debit cards for making online purchases is done away with under the proposed scheme.
One can open an account using the PAN card and operate the account through a transaction password and PIN number and manage the account online and top up the account too.
The minimum deposit is likely to be in the range of Rs. 1500 to 2000.
Registration fee
The account can be opened with a registration fee of Rs. 250, which can be redeemed while booking tickets later.
The IRCTC will provide facility for the user to track the transaction history and in case of cancellation of ticket, the refund would be deposited in the account the very following day.

But the hassle in ebooking thorough payment gateways will be reduced. In several occasions I lost money due to communication problem between IRCTC and Payment Gateways. Especially at the time of booking Tatkal tickets, it will be more useful. So let us welcome this decision of IRCTC

before two decades people want new lines for them to connect with chennai.its not difficult for them when they travelled to chennai.but now they are asking for shortcut for various destinations.in tamilnadu still there are five lines are GC progressing.beyond tiruvarur people are suffering without direct connections to chennai.already central govt didnt alloted enough funds for GC conversion projects.instead of alloting funds for low revenue lines they should allot funds for MG lines to be changed as BG.famous line when it was in british rule between tvr-kkdi but now they didnt care about this line.there are many important places like thiruthuraipoondi, aranthangi, muthupet, peravoorani.the estimated amount is 700crs for tvr-kkdi GC.in railway budget they didnt alloted funds for this line and announced survey for new lines.its unfair railways not interesting in alloting funds for this line.so to avoid unnecessary confusion in the name of new lines they should allot funds for tvr-kkdi line.if they...

I could understand your demand for the fund allocation to the GC projects. But I can't accept your objection towards the new lines. I mean, you are worried about the proposed Mannargudi-Pattukkotai new line. Most of the people are thinking that if this new line comes, the TVR-KKDI section will be abandoned. But it is not correct. Time will prove that both lines will come into existence and help the delta people.

I fully agree with you. The Indian Railways should come forward to hike the fares reasonably and utilize the fund to enhance the infrastructure like GC and new lines, new trains etc.

when it was in MG there were lot of trains ran via tvr-kkdi section.once upon a time it was very busy.also it was famous line 100years ago trunk route was started by british govt from ms-rmm via mv,tvr, kkdi.lot of passenger trains ran and famous sethu express, boatmail express, kamban link exp(6875/6876 tambaram-nagore/karaikkudi).but now their fate has to be changed.they are suffering without BG trains, even railway ministry also not interested in implementing this railway project because of "political pressure".there are many important towns in this route if SR finishes this line within 4years it will be nice to see an alternate route from southern districts to ms(vpt-mnm-kkdi-tvr-mv-vm-ms).before a week heard a news that GC between tvr-kkdi has been announced and the works will be finished by phase to phase.it requires 700cr for this project.its better to replace old lines to bg make it useful for people while alloting funds to unnecessary "new lines".

I too agree with the demand for the GC of TVR-KKDI section and introduction of the trains which were already operated on this section. Public, Traders, Public representatives of the areas concerned should exert pressure on SR to get the required funds allocated.

I sent a request to SR and Railway Board to
1) To add slip coaches in Rameswaram - Chennai express at Thanjavur
2) Divert Mannai Express via Tiruvarur Mayiladuthurai instead of the Circuitous route via Thanjavur
3) Restore Rockfort Express to its original route

think that it is a more workable solution and would benefit all the parties (Passengers of Mannargudi section – Passengers of Thanjavur/Kumbakonam section and the Railways itself as the running cost reduced to a great extent).
Expecting comments.....

I can't accept that "for mannai express patronage is from TJ and KMU oly not from mannargudi..so diverting mannai wil lead to poor patronage only...". When the train was introduced, I saw it was filled at Mannargudi itself. Passengers not only from Mannargudi and surroundings, but also from Pattukkottai used this train. But later, the TJ/KMU passengers did advanced bookings and as a result, Mannargudi passengers were deprived of using this train. Normally from Mannargudi, this train was more utilized by business people who can not schedule their trip well in advance. Also, the departure time 9.15 PM is another constraint. The Chamber of Commerce, Mannrgudi, and other organizations are raising their voice for changing the departure time to 10:15 pm. This could be possible only if it was diverted via TVR-MV route.

Yes Sir. Introducing new ONT from TJ is the need of the hour. We also requested that. The Slip Coach proposal is a temporary arrangement till the new train is introduced. Hope, in the next railway budget T.R.Baalu will get the new Train for TJ. Because he is planning to contest from Thanjavur Parliamentary Constitution.

Sir, my plea is not attaching Slip Coaches to RF. My original request is to restore RF to its original route, (and also Mannai Exp.) adding slip coaches to Rameswaram express at Thanjavur. By doing this we can avoid 80 kms extra distance and a loco reversal at TPJ for RF and 40 kms extra distance and two loco reversals at NMJ and TJ for Mannai express. Will it be a workable solution?

In the case of VLKN - MS - VLKN there is no other way. It has to undergo a loco reversal at Tiruvarur. Even if it runs through TJ it is the same.
But for Mannai Express, f it is diverted via Tiruvarur (its original route), no loco reversal is required at all

We are not demanding just the Mannai Express. But also propose Slip Coaches to TJ/KMU people
Also, we demand SR to introduce ONT between TJ-MS. But it will take a long time. Until then it will be a good alternative
