The investigation team, including senior officials, confirmed that the locking pin was never attached. The incident happened on July 29th, when the train was traveling from Darbhanga to Delhi. The train had already departed from Darbhanga on Monday and was heading back to New Delhi.

Train pehle hi Monday ko Darbhanga se chali thi aur New Delhi ja rahi thi.

The Northeast Railway administration released helpline numbers for major stations immediately after the derailment of the 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express. The General Manager of Northeast Railway, S. Mathur, Divisional Railway Manager/Lucknow, Aditya Kumar, and other senior railway officers reached the site and reviewed the rescue efforts. Several trains, including the Gonda-Gorakhpur passenger (05094), Gorakhpur-Gonda passenger (05031), and Gorakhpur-Bahraich-Gorakhpur passenger (05131/05132), were canceled. Several other trains were rerouted, with their routes varying from train to train. The routes were changed to avoid the affected section and ensure the safe passage of passengers.
