Tamil Nadu Express: once a jewel in the crown of Southern Railway, now overshadowedPremium

The Tamil Nadu Express, launched in 1976, was one of the first superfast trains in India, connecting Madras (now Chennai) to Delhi in less than 30 hours. This train addressed a long-standing demand for a faster connection between South India and the national capital. The train, painted in sleek red and...

yellow, featured unique amenities for its time, including a mobile library, water coolers, a public address system, music channels, closed-circuit televisions, and a pantry car. It was also managed by a Train Superintendent for passenger amenities and complaint resolution. The introduction of the Tamil Nadu Express marked a new era in rail transportation, offering a faster and more comfortable journey for passengers traveling between South India and Delhi. The development of this express train was inspired by Japan's Bullet Trains and other high-speed trains in Europe. The Indian Railways aimed to increase speeds of express trains from 100 kmph to 160 kmph, leading to the introduction of the Rajdhani Expresses between Howrah-New Delhi and Mumbai-New Delhi, operating at speeds of 130 km/h and 120 km/h respectively. However, after the departure of B.C. Ganguly, the high-speed project was abandoned.

1976 mein launch hua Tamil Nadu Express, India ke pehle superfast trains mein se ek tha, jo Madras (ab Chennai) se Delhi tak 30 ghante se kam mein pahunchta tha. Is train ne South India aur national capital ke beech ek fast connection ki bahut saal se chali aati maang ko...

pura kiya. Red aur yellow rang mein paint ki gayi ye train, apne samay ke liye unique amenities deti thi, jaise ki mobile library, water coolers, public address system, music channels, closed-circuit television, aur pantry car. Isme Train Superintendent bhi tha, jo passenger amenities aur complaint resolution dekhta tha. Tamil Nadu Express ke launch ne rail transportation mein ek naya zamana shuru kiya, jisse South India aur Delhi ke beech safar karne wale passengers ke liye ek fast aur comfortable journey milti thi. Is express train ka vikas Japan ke Bullet Trains aur Europe ke other high-speed trains se prabhavit tha. Indian Railways ka maqsad express trains ki speed 100 kmph se badhakar 160 kmph karna tha, jiske chalte Howrah-New Delhi aur Mumbai-New Delhi ke beech Rajdhani Expresses launch hue, jo ki 130 km/h aur 120 km/h ki speed se chalte the. Lekin, B.C. Ganguly ke jane ke baad, high-speed project band kar diya gaya.
